Cut, Print and Gore

In CUT,PRINT a group of ambitious filmmakers set out to create the world’s first reality horror movie. Their plan is simple: they’d offer an active serial killer complete anonymity and a worldwide platform from which to display his work in exchange for genuine footage of his grisly crimes. What ensues is a hellish game of cat and mouse as a cryptic filmmaker, known only as The Maestro, comes out from hiding in search of his “perfect shot”.

Starring Vince Orlando, Randy Godwin, Ken Foree, and James Ohngren, the film is directed by Nathan Nose and produced by actor Jordan Yale. The film is presented by Horror Icon Tim Sullivan, of FIELD OF SCREAMS fame, who discovered the filmmakers and aided in the post-production process to bring the film to the screen:

That is the premise of Cut/Print, a film that came to my attention last autumn by actor Jordan Yale Levine, a.k.a. ‘K-Jay’, the cocky celebutante with the electrifying demise in 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams. Turns out in addition to his skills in front of the lens, Jordan is quite the aggressive producer behind it, with several buzzed-about projects already to his credit (Petunia, Land of the Astronauts, Tooth and Nail). Jordan asked me to take a look at an unfinished film his buddy Vince Orlando had written, produced and starred in, a “faux documentary” a la Paranormal Activity and Last Exorcism. Jordan thought perhaps I would be interested in coming on board as producer, the whole “Tim Sullivan Presents” thing. I had been asked this before many times, and was always hesitant. Sadly, 90% of the films I’ve been asked to “produce” and “present” make Ed Wood look like James Whale (Aspiring Filmmakers & Storytellers take note- There truly is a lot more to it than just owning a digital camera and Final Cut Pro …). Also- how many times can one market a flick as “real” without audiences catching on? But Jordan was adamant I give the film a look. I trust his opinion, and so I did.

Embedded below is a “Making of…” doc about the flick. Check out Tim’s column at Fangoria for more about the movie.

As part of the promotion for the film, the director has created the THE MAESTRO’S CONTEST, where you can win the below original artwork drawn by actor Bryce Molacek (“Young Maestro”) as featured in Cut/Print.
