Gaymercon

So another convention is making it’s way to San Francisco. With WonderCon and YaoiCon being moved to SoCal this year, it looks like another convention is coming to fill the void.  Straight from their website is a description of the convention.

GaymerCon is a convention for the gaming and geek community, with a gay twist. We will be releasing a video with more information and launching a kickstarter shortly. Based on the response we will be locating a venue and setting a time in the Fall of 2012 for the convention.

The GaymerCon Mission

Like RoboCop, Gaymercon operates in accordance with our own prime directives. These are our principles.

  1. SUPPORT a fun and inclusive group supporting all sexual identities in the alternative gaming community — collectively titled Gaymers.
  2. UNITE the alternative gaming community; support camaraderie and connection with other local Gaymers. Let’s all be friends!
  3. CREATE branded Gaymer convention to unify, educate, and entertain the game and game developer community.
  4. EDUCATE and inform the gaming community; facilitate networking around game creation and promote acceptance and social change.

On their YouTube page, they’ve already have some people express interest via video responses. Word seems to have spread at GDC (Game Developer’s Conference) and SXSW (South By SouthWest).

    Hey there!

Thanks so much for posting this – my name is Matt and I’m one of the creators of GaymerCon. We’re still very early in our planning process and are in the process of creating and editing a Kickstarter video which should better explain our reasoning behind starting this convention.

We believe that gay dorks don’t get enough love and want to provide the E3 that the LGBT community never got to experience – or at least a cool place to be around likeminded gaymers.

I’m always open to questions and would love to chat Gaymercon with anyone who may be interested in business-type stuff.

Thanks again – drop me a line anytime if you have questions (to anyone)!
