Zygons to return for ‘Doctor Who’s’ 50th.

While its now known that both David Tennant and Billie Piper return as the Doctor and Rose for Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary Special, we now also know who both the tenth and eleventh Doctors will be facing in that expanded story, as the Zygons make a welcome to return to the franchise.

While the monsters made only one appearance on the series, the 1975 4th Doctor serial Terror of The Zygons, they left fans with a lasting impression, appearing in books and audio plays. They get mentioned in 6th season episode of the new series, The Power of Three, when the eleventh Doctor takes Amy and Rory to the Savoy for their wedding anniversary, and its discovered the Zygons have a ship beneath the hotel. However all the Zygons seen in this story have all taken the form of humans working in the hotel and are never seen in their more ‘monstrous’ original forms.
